yt-x is a POSIX-compliant shell script (works under bash, zsh or dash) that turns yt-dlp into an interactive terminal frontend for YouTube and any other site yt-dlp supports. fzf drives the menus by default (rofi and gum are supported alternate launchers). From it you can search and browse videos, playlists and channels, play media with mpv (vlc and tplay are also supported), download media, keep watch history and custom playlists, and extend the tool with plugins for extra sites, themes, languages, and commands. Required at runtime: yt-dlp, fzf, jq, mpv. Optional at runtime: rofi, gum, chafa (or icat/imgcat), vlc, tplay, ffmpegthumbnailer, bat. This package installs the upstream yt-x script as-is to /usr/bin. On first run it creates its own config/cache/data directories under $XDG_CONFIG_HOME, $XDG_CACHE_HOME and $XDG_DATA_HOME (normally ~/.config/yt-x, ~/.cache/yt-x and ~/.local/share/yt-x) and writes a default config file there; nothing is written outside the user's home directory by this package itself. Optional extensions (extra site, theme and language plugins) and helper configs (mpv.conf, yt-dlp.conf, rofi themes) shown by upstream's own interactive installer are not fetched by this SlackBuild -- run yt-x once and use its own extension system, or grab them from the GitHub releases page, if you want them.
