# HOW TO EDIT THIS FILE:
# The "handy ruler" below makes it easier to edit a package description. Line
# up the first '|' above the ':' following the base package name, and the '|'
# on the right side marks the last column you can put a character in. You must
# make exactly 11 lines for the formatting to be correct. It's also customary
# to leave one space after the ':'.

vamps: Vamps

vamps: Vamps was written to make cheap backups of DVDs under Linux. Back in
vamps: 2003 Metakine published the source code of their M2Requantiser module.
vamps: The idea was to make use of this great piece of software to create a
vamps: transcoder for Linux for shrinking the content of a DVD9. This would
vamps: enable backups on cheap single layer DVDRs (double layer burners weren't
vamps: even available that time). The Metakine requantizer is pretty fast and
vamps: so Vamps was designed not to break this outstanding performance.
